Hello! I’m Joanna van der Hoeven, and I am a full-time author, a Witch, and a Druid with a free spirit and a love of life. I write both fiction and non-fiction books, and my current passion is my Witches of the New Forest series, a fun paranormal romance/urban fantasy world filled with adventure, mystery, compelling characters and a good dose of humour. And lots of magick!
I live in England, though I was born in Canada. I love both countries equally, and my heart belongs to each for different reasons. I have been a Pagan for over 30 years, and the songs of the land fill my soul and flow out into my writing. I have written many non-fiction books on both Witchcraft and Druidry.
I decided to move to Substack because it is the best platform for authors to share their writing, their process, and their inspiration. It’s a place to share ideas and information, and I hope that you enjoy your time here. This is a place where I will share what I am currently working on in the form of excerpts from my books, as well as the inspiration behind them. I will also share some of my musings on life in general, on author life, being a Witch and a Druid, and any other exciting news.
This is a place of safety and respect, and all are welcome here. I hope to build a community of like-minded folk who whisper to the trees, who love to read and write, who pray by the moon and dance under the sun. This is a place of inspiration, a place to breathe in and then exhale softly into the world.
I will be sharing my writing, thoughts and inspiration. There will also be photography and videos, as I love to share the wonder of the natural world around me with others.
